Jacob Rummel and Baron and Emilie Dow were among that rare breed who dare to dream big dreams – different dreams. These two people came to separate visions of a new type of community, that would serve the needs of those of advancing years. And so a journey began more than half a century ago bringing us to the Dow Rummel Village of today.
What began as the Rummel Memorial Home introduced the concept of a retirement community in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
From the original 9 ½ acre site located on the city’s north end, with 29 self-care units and 12 infirmary units Dow Rummel Village has grown to 113 independent apartments, 9 garden style cottages, 32 independent living/assisted living apartments, 35 assisted living apartments, 14 memory care beds, 50 nursing home beds as well as a chapel, a state of the art wellness center, indoor pool and spa.
How did what was Rummel Memorial Home evolve into THE premier retirement community in the region?
