I am excited and honored to be joining this fantastic organization as your new CEO.
First of all, let me express my appreciation for the support during the interview process and the warm welcome and friendliness of everyone I have met so far. I am thrilled to be a part of such a talented and dynamic group, and I am eager to learn from everyone who lives and works here at Dow Rummel Village – there is no
shortage of knowledge and experience!

The transition of CEO is a large change for any organization, and with any change or transition, I firmly believe in using that as a great opportunity for growth and development. I am optimistic that our collective efforts and teamwork will lead to success, and we will continue the environment here at Dow Rummel that allows us to achieve great things.

As I write these monthly updates, I plan to share a bit of information each time about me to keep things personal, while also providing updates on Dow Rummel that are important for you to each be aware of. I am married to my wife Tonya (13 years in July) and we have three wonderful children – Paisley (10), McKinley (7) and Attley (7). We were fortunate after our first daughter was born to be blessed with twins – one daughter and one son. We live in Harrisburg with our family puppy Emmaley and enjoy spending time outdoors whenever we can, participating in sports (basketball, tennis, football), running, walking, biking, hiking, and swimming. I am an avid reader when I have time to relax for a bit, and when indoors we like to watch and cheer on the Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes or take in a movie with our favorites being Harry Potter, Star Wars, or comedies. Our ideal family getaway is spending time in the Black Hills or at our family place in Okoboji on the lake.

The last several weeks here at Dow Rummel the residents, families, and staff all participated in a satisfaction survey. The preliminary results are being reviewed and more detailed information will be shared with all of you soon. Overall, the results are very positive and show an improvement from last year’s survey, which is great to see – momentum in the right direction! I will not only be sharing more results in the next newsletter, but also working with residents and staff to determine how we respond and improve on the lower scoring areas, so we can continue to ensure Dow Rummel is the premier place to live and work.

As I close out my first update, I want to say a special thank you to all the Mothers and Mother-Figures out there since May is Mother’s Day. In one way or another we have all been impacted by someone who is a Mother or Mother-Figure, and it is a great time during the month of May to express additional gratitude to those special women in our lives. I am fortunate to have my Mom Debbie, my Mother-In-Law Debra, my Step-Mom Julie, and my Grandma Wanda who have and continue to support my family and me in many ways. These women among others have helped mold me into who I am today.

Blessings,
Josh
