THE POSITION

We are looking for an innovative trainer to lead the new-hire training program for new and current CNA’s. The CNA Trainer is expected to provide newly hired CNA’s all the compliance and onboarding training needed to ensure success, and satisfaction of new employees.  

THE HOURS: Hours will vary.  Primarily 6am to 2:30pm with some evening and overnight shifts according to the new hires’ schedules.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES – Model the values, mission, and vision of Dow Rummel Village.

  • Know and keep current with the South Dakota Board of Nursing CNA regulations.
  • Review employee performance and learning
  • Create training programs to address skill gaps
  • Prepare learning materials for programs
  • Develop onboarding programs for new CNA’s
  • Conduct surveys to gauge the effectiveness of programs
  • Research new teaching methods
  • Attend meetings according to the success of the program.
  • Develop a schedule to assess training needs.
  • Be alert and active in supporting facility’s commitment to safe practices, infection control, and respect for residents’ rights
  • Consult with other trainers, managers, and leadership

THE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current and unrestricted State of South Dakota CNA License
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent verbal, written interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Minimum of 3 years as a CNA
  • Encouraging to team and staff, able to mentor and lead
  • Must have good organizational and interpersonal skills –  oral and written communication skills, positive, patient attitude and willingness to work as a member of a team to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
  • Must be able to push and pull 60 pounds, must be able to lift 50 pounds and must be able to carry 15 pounds with two hands
  • Must be able to relate professionally, positively, and cooperatively with residents, resident’s families, and employees.
  • Must possess proficient computer skills, including email use.
  • Must demonstrate strong communications skills and be able to work comfortably and effectively with residents (at various cognitive and functional levels), family members, and co-workers.
  • Professional in appearance and conduct.
  • Must be criminally cleared.
  • Be in good health and physically and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks. 
  • Good physical health
